Location:
Sweetwater Ranch offers the complete privacy of a tranquil retreat in the middle of nowhere but is, in fact, only 15 minutes outside of Guerneville. There are no neighbors in sight or hearing distance. Kept private with an electronic gate, the road to the house is mostly paved, with some gravel, as it winds through this incredible property to the house.
Home:
Sweetwater Ranch is a custom-built country-style home outfitted with fine furnishings and linens, rustic-chic terra cotta tile floors and woodstove. Out of every window, there is a breath-taking view. Sleeping 4, there are two floors with two bedrooms, one on each floor, both featuring king-size beds and adjoining bathrooms. On the lower, entry level, the open plan kitchen/dining room/living room provides a gracious space for cooking, eating and gathering in comfort. The living room is elegant yet comfortable, centering around the woodstove and large screen TV. French doors open onto a large porch/deck with a rocking chair and outdoor dining set and the most amazing view of pond, valley and redwoods. There is a bedroom on this floor with new, high-quality linens dressing its king bed and a bathroom with antique clawfoot tub with shower. This bathroom also has a lockable door that opens to the kitchen. Upstairs, the master bedroom suite is tucked under the eaves and beautifully furnished with a king bed, roll top desk, and sink-in-room. The bathroom shower and toilet are behind a curtain. The house is equipped with high-speed wireless Internet access.
Grounds:
Nestled into a sunny hillside on 40 acres overlooking a valley that stretches all the way the distant Santa Rosa Mountains, Sweetwater Ranch offers a total retreat from the world. The grounds include trails to explore, three picturesque ponds (one with boat*; all have goldfish), an old-growth redwood grove, and orchards. The pond with the rowboat is also a fishing pond; bring some fishing gear and catch a variety of small edible fish. There are folding chairs by this pond which can be carried a few feet into the redwood forest where you will be instantly cool on hot days, enjoying the meditative, mystical calm of these magestic trees. On the uphill side of the house, there is covered parking for two cars, just a short distance from the front porch level-in entry to the house. Here, there is also a large gravel patio with loungers and a fountain, and a 12-person hot tub in a gazebo just beyond. On the downhill side, attached to the house, there's a large, covered, fenced dog run (with dog house) next to a shaded patio with dining set, both in close proximity to the children's playset nearby. There's also a trampoline with safety netting. Just down the hill, there is a garden-gone-wild, still offering ripe berries and stone fruit, and a basketball hoop attached to a barn just a little further.
*Please Note: Those that want to use the boat should bring their own life jackets.
